Branding your games
Whimsy provides several customization options for game UI, menus, visual elements, and branding to help your game stand out. This guide covers how to personalize your game's appearance and user interface. All these options can be found in the Settings tab of your project.
Menu and UI Customization
Customizing Colors
You can customize three main color elements in your game, in the Branding section:
- Console Color - The background color of the game window
- Controls Color - The color of the directional buttons and menu button
- UI Color - The color of menus, dialogue boxes, and other interface elements

Colors include your game's palette, and the default Whimsy colors for those UI elements. (They are the first ones.) Colors for text will be either black or white based on your selections to ensure readability.
Font Customization
You can customize the fonts used throughout your game:
- Default Font - Used for regular dialogue and messages.
- Game Menu Font - Used specifically for the game menu (save/load screens, etc.)
You can always change fonts in individual blocks. When you change the default font, you only change it for new dialogue blocks in scenarios. In case you need to change fonts for the whole project, you can do it by selecting a new font in the Settings tab in the "Replace all fonts in Actors with…" field and clicking the Replace button.
Custom Game Banner
You can replace the default "Made with Whimsy" banner with your own custom banner:
- Go to the Settings panel
- Enable the Custom Game Banner option
- Design your banner using the built-in editor

The banner appears as a virtual sticker at the top of the game screen on portrait layout and in the corner on other layouts. While your custom banner is active, the Whimsy credit will become much smaller and be moved to a corner.

Hiding the Whimsy Logo Completely
In paid editions of Whimsy (HD and Ultra), you have the option to hide the Whimsy logo:
- Go to the Settings panel
- Toggle the Hide Whimsy Logo option
Customizing Menus' Text
You can translate or customize the text used in menus through the project settings, in the Translations fieldgroup. These settings allow you to localize your game or customize the writing style and terminology to match your game's theme.

Fullscreen Mode
All Whimsy games have an ability to enter the fullscreen through the game menu. When enabled, on-screen controls become mostly hidden, with only the menu toggle placed in the top-right corner. Players can go back to regular mode by clicking the menu button in the top-right corner.

As on-screen arrows become hidden, the only ways to move the hero become WASD and arrow keys on physical keyboard and swiping on the Stage display on touch devices. While keyboard controls work and are usually pretty intuitive for desktop users, for mobile users, it is recommended that you communicate swiping controls to your players on game's page or through a "helper" Actor.
In Whimsy Ultra, you can also force fullscreen mode. When enabled, this removes the ability for players to exit fullscreen mode, which can be useful for kiosk or presentation settings, or just for the vibes.
